Costa Smeralda: 5 beaches not to be missed

Matteo Massoni

The Costa Smeralda is synonymous with glamor, luxury and beauty. Porto Cervo and the surrounding area attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world every summer, fascinated by the beauty of the landscape, the colors of the sea and the charm of a unique coast. Here are my 5 favorite beaches of the Costa Smeralda not to be missed if you travel in the area this summer!

1) Pevero Beach

A few km from the center of Porto Cervo, in the bay of the same name, we find one of the most famous beaches on the coast and, perhaps, my favorite. The Pevero beach consists of the more reserved Piccolo Pevero and the main part called Grande Pevero. White sand, crystal clear water with shades ranging from light blue to intense blue immersed in a fascinating landscape. Definitely not to be missed.

2) Principe Beach

Called Spiaggia del Principe (Prince’s beach) because considered as the favorite by Prince Aga Khan, this beach jewel overlooks the Mortorio islands, Soffi and Camere. Fine sand, typical Gallura landscape. Unfortunately very crowded in the summer months, but a visit is a must-do!

3) Giglio beach

A few meters from the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, we find a very suggestive small beach. Generally less crowded, closer to the center of Porto Cervo, the Giglio beach offers shallow waters, a breathtaking beach with a view of the largest yachts in the world.

4) Romazzino beach

The name of the beach derives from rosemary, extremely widespread in the area. This long white sand beach offers unique backdrops with transparencies that cover all shades of blue.

5) Capriccioli beach

Small cove with fine-grained white sand, Capriccioli beach (in Gallurese “caprette”), is located near the hotel of the same name, one of the most famous on the Emerald coast. To embellish the landscape, a red granite cliff like a typical Gallura landscape.
